We equip investment teams with the tools to scale their strategies and operate effectively, from expansive data storage and high-performance computing in our data centres to massive on-premises database deployments and cutting-edge end-user devices. We are also responsible for keeping Man Group secure and automating infosec processes, ensuring seamless operations across the firm.
About the Role
We are looking for an Infrastructure engineer to join the Infrastructure engineering team. Initially focused on our storage estate, but with scope to work on all aspects of the infrastructure, you'll tackle impactful projects, receive formal training, gain mentorship from senior leaders and develop a thorough understanding of our business.
Responsibilities
Managing large internal data centres with tens of thousands of cores and hundreds of terabytes of memory, running Python at scale.
Building and managing Man Group’s infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud, using technologies such as Python, .Net, Linux, Windows Server, Databases and Storage
Writing software to automate infrastructure and creating flexible self-service technology for thousands of users across Man Group
Maintaining reliable systems while administering petabyte-scale storage and large CPU and GPU deployments
Operating and optimising global network interconnects within our data centres.
Working closely with business stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
Who are we looking for?
Join us as an Engineer in the Infrastructure Engineering department and you'll be part of a team that builds and runs the platform powering Man Group's hedge funds. Your technical experience may have been gained through open source contributions, 2+ years of relevant industry experience, or as a recent graduate or currently studying for a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline
Key Skills
You would ideally have at least one of the following forms of experience:
Experience working with any of the following programming or scripting languages: Python / Java / C# / Powershell / C++
Experience working with configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet or Salt.
Experience managing storage arrays from vendors such as Dell, VAST, Pure Storage or Netapp.
Desirable
Understanding of how source control and continuous deployment workflows work with tools like git
Experience administrating operating systems e.g. Linux, Windows or MacOS and understanding of cloud technologies
Self-organised with the ability to prioritise and effectively manage time across multiple projects
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Strong troubleshooting skills
Self-starter with a desire to learn and understand more about the business environment in which you work
