ATS (Trade System) Support Engineer (L2/L3 Linux/Application Support Engineer)

About the Role 

Man Group develops and operates trading systems that make trillions of dollars of trades every year. To help support these systems, we have an open role in Sofia. This role will be part of a team that provides support for our trading estate. Monitoring production systems and working closely with business users and engineers to facilitate quick resolution to critical issues. In addition to supporting systems, you will also be responsible for the deployment of changes to the estate. This role will suit someone who is looking for a skilled, responsible position, where they will interact with many systems and support many users, gatekeeping our production areas from researchers, developers, and other users.

 

Technology and Business Skills 

This role covers a very wide range of skills and tools; we anticipate that applicants will need significant training in the role, thus our technical skills requirements are flexible. 

Essential

  • Dedication to the responsibilities of the role; you must be willing and able to be a pragmatic but conscientious gatekeeper to our trading system
  • Excellent communication skills; your colleagues will range from senior management to junior developers, operators, and external counterparties
  • Attention to detail; you will be implementing a very wide rather of changes to the trading system across a variety of environments
  • Willing to work on a rotating shift (details below)
  • Good working knowledge of the Linux command line

Advantageous

  • Previous Operations Support experience
  • Familiarity with: ServiceNow, Git, Python, Moveit, Nagios/check_mk
  • Jenkins/Airflow
  • Ansible/Teraform

Shift work:
     Engineers in this role will rotate through a schedule covering Early/Float/Late shifts. Times are London Time (Sofia Time).
        Early: 08:30 through 17:00
        Float: Office hours
        Late: 15:30 through 00:00 - late shift can be done remotely 

  The engineer on Early is responsible for any weekend work that might crop up that week - this is not usually more than a morning or afternoon on a Saturday, but rarely can be more demanding. This is compensated via overtime or Time Off In Leiu of Absence (TOIL). Due to the shift pattern, this is about one weekend in three.    Because we trade almost every week day of the year, non-Float shifts must work Bank Holidays and similar public holidays, for which you are entitled to either overtime or TOIL.
