Peterson’s Data is seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Product Manager to drive the strategy, roadmap, and execution for our growing data business. This is a critical role that will be instrumental in shaping the future of how universities, colleges, scholarships, and career information are accessed and utilized across the United States. You will work closely with our research, data management, and engineering teams to develop and enhance our data products, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of our users and stakeholders. This role requires a blend of technical understanding, strategic thinking, and strong execution skills.
Responsibilities:
Product Strategy and Roadmap: Define and articulate the vision, strategy, and roadmap for our data products, aligning with the overall business objectives.
Market and User Research: Conduct market research, analyze user needs, and identify opportunities for new data products and enhancements to existing offerings.
Requirements Definition: Translate market insights and user needs into detailed product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Collaboration with Engineering: Work closely with data engineers and database architects to define technical specifications, ensure data quality, and optimize database performance.
AI and Machine Learning Integration: Explore and define opportunities to leverage AI and machine learning to enhance our data products, improve data analysis, and create new features.
Data Acquisition and Operations: Develop and execute strategies for acquiring and collecting relevant data from various sources, ensuring data integrity, compliance, and scalability.
Product Lifecycle Management: Manage the entire product lifecycle from ideation to launch, iteration, and retirement.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with research, data management, marketing, sales, and customer support teams to ensure successful product development and go-to-market strategies.
Performance Monitoring and Analysis: Define and track key product metrics, analyze performance data, and identify areas for improvement.
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate product vision, roadmap, and progress effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
Competitive Analysis: Stay informed about the competitive landscape and identify opportunities to differentiate our data products.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or a related technical field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in product management, preferably within a data-centric or SaaS environment.
Strong technical acumen with the ability to understand database architectures, data modeling, and data pipelines.
Experience working with data engineers and a solid understanding of data management principles.
Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts and their potential applications in data products.
Experience in defining and executing data acquisition strategies and operational processes.
Proven ability to translate market needs and user feedback into actionable product requirements.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful insights.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams.
Experience with agile development methodologies.
Understanding of the higher education, scholarship, or career services landscape is a plus.
Experience with data visualization tools and techniques is a plus.
