About the Role 
We are looking for an experienced and driven Team Leader to guide and grow our Backend 
Development team. As the Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing backend 
technical design, ensuring high code quality, mentoring team members, and driving the 
successful delivery of backend services and features. 

Key Responsibilities 
• Technical Leadership 
o Guide the team in the application of Domain Driven Design, object-oriented 
programming, and best practices in PHP development. 
o Ensure high-quality and scalable RESTful API development using frameworks 
like Symfony or Laravel. 
o Drive backend architecture decisions, ensuring maintainability, security, and 
performance. 

• Team & Project Management 
o Organize, delegate, and oversee development tasks, ensuring timely delivery 
aligned with sprint goals. 
o Work closely with product managers, frontend developers, and QA teams to align 
backend delivery with business needs. 
o Conduct regular code reviews and technical sessions to promote learning and 
improvement. 

• Mentorship & Coaching 
o Mentor team members in areas of clean coding, architectural patterns, 
performance optimization, and modern development practices. 
o Identify growth opportunities and support personal development plans. 

• Process Improvement 
o Encourage Agile principles and promote efficient workflows using continuous 
integration pipelines and version control strategies (Git). 
o Continuously improve backend development practices, toolchains, and 
technologies used within the team. 


Qualifications 
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or equivalent practical 
experience. 
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in backend development, with at least 2 years in a 
leadership or senior role. 

• Strong expertise in: 
o PHP, with deep understanding of Symfony or Laravel 
o SQL databases like MySQL/MariaDB 
o Message brokers (e.g., RabbitMQ) 
o Containerization (e.g., Docker), scripting, and CI/CD workflows 
o Linux environments (Debian/Ubuntu) 

• Solid understanding of security practices and modern backend architecture 
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and team planning tools (e.g., Jira, Trello) 
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills 

The following will be considered as an advantage 
• Knowledge in Python and or Go is considered as an advantage 
• Familiarity with the fundamental Internet, Transport and Application level protocols - IP, TCP / 
UDP, HTTP / TLS / SSL / SSH – advantage 
• Experience with HTML and CSS, JS. Experience with Angular /preferred/ and/or React is 
considered as an advantage Any Front-end technology is considered as a serious advantage 
• Shell scripting on Linux, including basic knowledge of network configuration and diagnostic tools 
and commands, like ifconfig, ip, iptables and tcpdump is considered as an advantage
